As the days get warmer here in Turkey, thoughts of summer begin to fill my head. A Northwesterly breeze, long days of sailing, swimming in the ocean, and biting into a refreshing watermelon evoke feelings of happiness and nostalgia. I start laughing, thinking about childhood and how adamant we were about picking out every seed. We would ask my mom, “Will a watermelon grow in my tummy if I eat too many seeds?” Luckily, this was just a myth! There’s nothing like biting into a cool, refreshing watermelon on a hot summer day. Recently, at anchor in Sicak, a local restaurant owner offered us a plate of watermelon for dessert. How exciting it is to get something for free. The watermelon was an excellent replacement for a typical dessert we would order.
Watermelon is low in calories.
When choosing dessert, consider watermelon if available. While it contains natural sugars, its overall low-calorie content (about 46 calories per cup) makes it a healthy choice for those mindful of sugar intake.
Stay Hydrated
Consuming watermelon, especially on a hot day, is an excellent way to stay hydrated. Approximately 90% of it is water, making it highly hydrating.
Eating watermelon is a tasty way to support your beauty from the inside out.
Eating watermelon can be good for your hair and skin because it’s a good source of vitamins A and C.
Be aware that some people may experience sensitivity or allergies. If you’re trying watermelon for the first time, start with small amounts to see how your body reacts.
